Q1: I installed your Math Express on my system. When I attempt to run the program, a message window appears with the message: "Script Error: Handler not defined #FileIO".
A1: For Macintosh users:
Please check one of two things:
1. Make sure that the CD-ROM disc remains in the CD-ROM drive.
2. Make sure that you have double clicked on the START icon located on your Hard Drive. (At the beginning, the program will ask you to drag the "Drag Me into HD" icon to your Hard Drive, after you have done so, then go to your Hard Drive and double click on the "Drag Me into HD" icon. At this point, you will see the START icon, then double click on the START icon located on the Hard Drive to begin the program.)

For PC users:

1. The program ONLY works for Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows ME. It will not work for Windows NT/2000. If you tried to run the program using Windows NT/2000, an error message will appear.
OR
2. Try reinstalling the program and rebooting your computer.

Q2: I am trying to start the math program and it won't let me get past the initial sign in screen. (the one where it asks you to type in your name)
A2: In this sign in screen, there are ten lines, with a blank space next to each number. Move your mouse over any of the ten blank spaces. After you have clicked on the space, a white box will appear with a blinking cursor inside. Type in your name and click done.

Q3: I have taken several tests and none of them are logged in the report.
A3: Everytime you finish a test, you must save it. After taking the test, you will arrive to a screen with a chart that has X and O's in it. On the right side of the screen, there is a brown box. Click on it and it will give you the option to save.

Q4: Can the math program be copied to and run from the hard drive?
A4: No. You need to have the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive in order to run the program.

Q5: I purchased Math Advantage Deluxe Edition. I would like to know if Windows users need QuickTime 2.1.2.
A5: Yes. In order for the program to work, Windows users must install QuickTime 2.1.2. (It is provided in our program.) QuickTime 3.0 however, is not required for the program to run.

Q6: The math software loaded, but there is no sound. Also, in the Lecture section, the screen skips rapidly until it reaches the Practice section.
A6: For PC users, either there is a conflict with your sound card or the sound card driver. To test this, go to Control Panel, double click on the Sound icon, and try playing a sound in there. If sound does not play, reinstall your sound card driver. If sound still does not play, then there may be a problem with your sound card.

Q7: The math program loaded, but the screen is blurry.
A7: For PC users, change your color setting to 256 colors. If you are using 256 colors and this occurs, change it to High Color (16 bit).

Q8: Whenever I enter the program, my computer states that the program has performed an illegal operation and must be turned off.
A8: This occurs because the program has a conflict with your color settings. For PC users, change your color setting to 256 colors. If you are using 256 colors and this occurs, change it to High Color (16 bit).

Q9: The math program constantly stops and a blue screen comes up with subject options and asks if you want to start it (although you are already in the program).
A9: For Windows 95 users, close the program(s) and turn off Autorun. To do this, go to Control Panel and double click on System. Select Device Manager and double click on CD-ROM. A driver should appear after double clicking on CD-ROM. Select this driver and click on Properties. Select Settings and uncheck the box that says Auto insert notification.

Q10:

I inserted the CD-ROM into my computer, but nothing happened or it did not auto-install.

A10: For PC users, the reason why your computer did not auto-install is because you might have your Auto insert notification function disabled. To install the CD-ROM, double-click on My Computer icon. Next, right click on your CD-ROM drive and choose Open. Another window will open containing files that is in the CD-ROM. Look for the filename Install.exe, Install, Setup.exe, or Setup. The icon for the file resembles a blue monitor with a small white box in front of it. Double-click on that file and that will start the installation process for the program. Follow the instructions on the screen for a complete install.

Q11:

Is my math product compatible with Windows XP?

A11:

All of our math products were made to run on the Windows 95, 98, and ME file structure. It was not designed to run on the Windows NT file structure of Windows NT and 2000. However, Windows XP operating system has the Program Compatibility Wizard, which may help our product run on Windows XP. Though, we cannot assure you the Program Compatibility Wizard will fix the problem. To activate this feature:

1. Click on the Start Button.
2. Go to All Programs then Accessories.
3. Select the Program Compatibility Wizard.
4. Select for it to look into the CD drive.
5. Choose for it to run in Windows 98/ME mode.

Many of our products were developed prior to Window XP's release to the general public and commercial use. Windows XP has a different program requirement and file structure.

Please Note: If the software runs properly on your Windows XP machine, then you can right-click on the [math] icon and left-click on Properties. At the top-right you will see the Compatibility tab. This will allow you to run the product in Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 256-color mode, etc.
